For RVers wanting to boondock and save money on the road, BoondockersWelcome.com is a great resource. It’s a membership, fee-based website with a basic dashboard that allows you to search sites across the country offered by members, families, individuals, etc. who volunteer to host boondockers. Our first time using BW was in Wisconsin. We requested to boondock at a specific site (details on the site along with reviews by other boondockers) and was quickly accepted as guests by our hosts. Not sure what to expect, we had kept our expectations low. Along with another family of boondockers, we stayed at a 6-acre property located conveniently near a major attraction. After visiting the attraction, we went to the site for the evening. There was a large, grassy, and level area with plenty of room for several rigs. Our kids made friends with the other kids quickly. For the kiddos, the site had a trampoline, stage, playground, and campfire which kept all of the kids entertained throughout the evening. We stayed up late by the huge campfire (chairs all around) making s’mores and talking to everyone until the kids went down for the night. Overall we had a nice time bonding with other boondockers and kindred spirits!
